hey quick question from a newbee...
ok im setting up a simple (-but my first ever-) network in order to run my Playstation2 on broadband at the same time as my home PC. thing is though, im quite new to this and i dont really understand the difference between CAT5 and CAT5e cables, i can grasp the fact that it simply a more efficient/quicker version of the same thing but i want to know if its ok to be using regular CAT5's to connect my router-modem and my LAN port-router and then a CAT5e cable to connect my PS2 upto my router. basically: CAT5 and CAT5e in the same network? ok or not? cheers. tom.

Basically CAT5 and CAT5e are the same type of cable. The only difference is that CAT5e is produced to a higher quality standard so that it can be used for Gigabit ethernet. Other than that there is nothing special about it. So yes, you can use the two cables in the same network.
