Comment:

I read on Wikipedia that a Cat5e cable will function well up to a distance of 350 m for a 100 Base-T links (compared to 100 m for a cat5). Has anybody tried this or can anybody confirm the accuracy of this statement please?

I think some one must be getting confused between feet and meters. 100 metres = 238 feet, close 350. There is very little difference between Cat5 and Cat5e

100 meters applies to cat5, cat5e, Cat6 and Cat7.

'I think some one must be getting confused'.
Did you mean 328 feet?

1 meter = 39.37 inches
100 meters = 3937 inches = 328 feet

"238 feet, close 350"

I knew he meant 328 as being close to 350 because 238 is not even close.
