whats the difference between a cat5 jack and a cat5-e jack??? any help will be appreciated, thank you lots.

cat5 has a max through-put of 100meg (i believe) and cat5 E has a capability of 1 gig through-put. 5E is the newest and fastest of the cat5 cables

Cat5 is the cable type and what adamr said is correct. The name for the jack or connector is RJ-45. Both cat5 and cat5e use this connector.

I couldn't have said it better myself adamr, but CAT5 has 3 grouped terminus and CAT5-E has 4. It doesn't make much difference except it can handle a bigger throughput
