I have two computers on a home network, both running XP Pro. On the client computer I installed a spare hard drive to back up to. Both computers are NTFS and the new drive wasFAT32.
While doing a full back up of the host to the client drive it exceded the 4g limitation so I reformatted the new drive with NTFS. Now when I try and back up to the drive it says Access Denied even though I have network sharing and the ability to change files enabled for the new drive.
I have the drive mapped and am able to access it but can't write to it.

NTFS allows permissions in XP pro. Where as FAT32 does not

You will probably find that you drive allows read execute only.

Just change the permission for everyone to read write etc.

Once you have changed the permissions, all your files and sub directories will have keeped old permissions.

You need to change permission and make them inherrent to all sub dirs and files.
