I have this weard problem guys. I have two computers, Suzy and Sally. Sally is connected to internet and I'm sharing internet connection through her. I'm able to access internet from Suzy but I can't access any files on her. On other hand, Sally can access all files on Suzy. I've disabled all firewalls on Sally, file and printer sharing are ticked, I have enabled NetBios over TCP/IP, I have set-up sharing on several folders, they have the same workgroup name, but Sally can't access workgroup. It could access it before, when I did initial instalation of the network and that's when I mapped the drive on Suzy. Now I can access Suzy thruogh that link in My computer folder, but as I said, I can't se Suzy in My Network Places nor in Workgroup.
I hope I haven't confused you with Suzy and Sally.
Your help will be greatly appriciated. Thank you in advance.
P.S. These are the settings:
Sally: IP 198.162.0.1
my gateway to net
Suzy: IP 198.162.0.111
can access internet but can't see files on Sally
They also can ping each other!tralalala

How about trying \\198.162.0.1\c$ in the Run dialog of Suzy??
Rule #1 Good computers don't go down.
Rule #2 There is no such thing as a good computer.

I would double check your Windows firewall settings. I have mine disabled since I use Trend Micro's, but I have found it turns itself back on again after Windows updates.
When it is on, I cannot file share with my other computer. This has happened on several occasions.

Hello --
Well, I have also had this problem before, and it was not the computer, but the Wireless Access Points'...problem. :-)
What was happening in my situation was my router had the usual "1, 2, 3, 4" ports on the back for four different computers (or 4 Xboxes, however you look at it...) and it also had an "Uplink" port, in which my mothers' computer was connected to, and of course then the router was connected then to the Internet via a cable modem (sitting on top, of course).
Either way, to fix the problem, I just unhooked her from the "Uplink" port and put her into a 'regular' one. (Meaning 1, 2, etc. ports) Now it works! :-)
Hope this has helped!

I use Windows XP Professional.
I use Office 2003.I used Windows 98SE for 5 years. :-O

Thank you for your responses guys. rhawk, you were right. It was a firewall, but not the Windows Firewall, it was some Sygate Personal Firewall, which I didn't even know it existed. You see, Sally is in the lounge room and it is accessed by everyone who comes to my house. About a year ago I I had only one user account (administrator) and all my friends would install programs and do what not, and someone installed this stupid firewall. It wasn't in the start menu, it was running as a service under the name Smc.exe. I discovered it when I had Processes window open and tried to access the workgroup. I noticed that process Smc.exe becomes active and starts using about 20% of CPU and then I knew Smc had to be related to networking. Now, when Smc.exe is of Sally, Suzy and her are friends again.
Thanks again guys for your responses!
