Reply: (edit)Well, I am having a very similar problem to you, Sean. My internet connection sharing works perfect, my ip address shows up and works good, but I just cannot share files from one of the computers. It is a small 2-computer network and the xp pro is the host and the Windows ME is the client. Firewall is disabled in both computers. When I try to put files from the xp pro onto the ME, it works very fast and easy, as in a normal working network. But when I try to put things onto the xp pro from the windows ME, it gives me an error about 'network resource no longer available,' or something like that. I have no idea why this is, and I have slaved over it for hours trying to fix the problem. I am clueless now.

Reply: (edit)Try mapping the drives on the XP machine, (Or the folders.) For some reason XP Pro and Home (more Home than Pro) are real finicky about mapping. It's flaky and the drives will be dropped for no reason. Larry

Reply: (edit)Well, I have done the drive mapping before, and it certainly speeds up the network browsing, but I can't say it helps the file sharing. Here is an example of my problems. I want to take the song "Roll Out" from the Windows ME laptop and put it onto the XP Pro. So I use my old copy and paste method of file sharing. I sit down at the laptop, right click the song, and copy it. Then I close out of the folder and go to My Network Places on the desktop. I access the shared folder, My Music(as far as I know that folder gives full access to just about everything I can think of), and then right click and paste the song. After about 2 minutes of waiting and a long freeze on the laptop, it finally just causes one of two error messages. One of them says "Cannot create or replace Roll Out: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use." And the other error message doesn't appear often, but it says "Cannot create or replace Roll Out: The network is busy." I am 100% sure it's a problem with the XP pro, because I networked the same laptop to my friends XP pro, and everything worked with perfect efficiency and speed. There must be something I can do to fix this. It's very aggravating.
