I have a wireless home network set up in which I have two desktops and a laptop connecting to the Internet through a Linksys router. All the computers can connect to the Internet just fine so that's not the problem. I, however can't seem to get any of the computers to see each other at all on the network so I'm not able to share any resources.

I have XP Pro running on one desktop and XP Home on the other two computers. I've had this problem for a while, but I do remember that a while back I was initially able to get the computers to see each other. That was back when I had a wired setup with cords running through the house. I can't remember though when this problem started occurring as it has been a while so I'm not sure whether it coincided with the change to a wireless setup.

I did notice that I had mistakenly given different workgroup names to two of the computers so I fixed that issue, but that still didn't do anything to change this problem I'm having. One weird symptom I'm having with all of this that has perplexed me is an error message that I keep getting whenever I try to view the computers on the network in the "Network Places" section.

Here is the error message that I get whenever I try to view my workgroup in the network places.

"MSHOME is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available."

One more thing to add to this is I've also set up my Xbox 360 and added it to the network. I currently have a hard wired connection for it to the router. It is also able to connect to the router, but like with my computers, I was not able to get my xbox to connect to my computer on the network so that I could access multimedia on my computer from the xbox.

If anyone has any ideas as to what may be going on here, please help.

Have you enabled file & printer sharing in each machine? Also check your firewall settings. If you have SP2 then windows firewall will probably be ON by default and will block your LAN

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

Maybe what you can do is to reset all 3 terminal workgroup to default first "WORKGROUP". Whereby once done, change each and individual workgroup to the desired workgroup name you want. Do see if the sharing folders are being enabled across each computers. If you are being a router, do check if your router is assigning IP address automatically and does each terminal is DHCP enabled. It maybe cause by different IP that resulted in unable to see other terminals in the network.
