I have a problem. I have a laptop running windows xp SP2 connected to my wireless router, and a windows 2000 advanced server SP4 with no server features running connected via ethernet to the router. I am try'n to share files between the two computers and all I know is each computer says that I dont have administrative permitions. I can ping each other computer from the other, but when I go into network places I can see the computers, but I cant access one from the other. What am I doing wrong?
You have to add the accounts on each machine to the Administrators group on the other. Try this:
1. Right click on "My Computer" and pick "Manage" 2. Expand "Local Users and Groups" and pick "Groups" 3. Open up "Administrators" then click "Add" 4. Type in the hostname and account from the other machine. Such as LAPTOP\Luke. 5. Do the same on the other machine, but with the other account name.
That should give you administrator access on each machine.
