Can't see Win 2000

I have 2 XPSP3 Professional clients that I have to connect 2 Win 2000 OS Running 2 Touch screen POS Systems. The problem is I can not see 2000 on my network. Everything is wired. I need help I have searched for days and have not found any way to get these computers to see each other.

same ip subnet?
same workgroup?
anything shared on the 2000 boxes?
xp firewalls configured to not block networking/file sharing?

what have you checked to resolve this issue?
