Hello All,
I've searched thru many posts and I am still unable to resolve my problem. I have 2 ME machine's and on one of them I can't see the computer in the entire network. I have tried the 20 or 30 Step process that is posted numerous times. It's a very good article. When I use MS network wizard, no errors occur. I go "My Network Places - Entire Network" it says that is unaccessible. When I look in the Network Icon, all of the protocols are there but ICS. Here is the configuration of the 2 computers:The one that is working normally:
Dell XPS T500 => PowerLeap 1.2 GHz
Cnet Pro Ethernet Card attached to cable modem.
Belkin Ethernet card for Home Network
IEEE 1394 Fire Wire card for Video
40.0 Gig HD
512Mb RAM
OS => Win ME
Firewall InstalledComputer that Doesn't show Network
Home Built ASUS P3C2000 MB
1023 BIOS
500Mhz PIII
Belkin Ethernet Card
256 Mb RAM
OS => Win ME
Crossover cable is wire correctly
No firewall installed

Have you tried uninstalling TCP/IP on both machines? Uninstall it, restart your computer, install TCP/IP, set your IP address (192.168.0.xxx (between 1 and 250)a dn the subnet is 255.255.255.0
Then re-start and see if they are there.

I'll try that. I was also thinking of re-installing Win ME. I believe you just insert the disc and run setup. Thanks for the reply

Hello, I had a similar problem this weekend.
It seems to be the computer with the two network cards. Try this (worked for me for 98se)
Goto device manager and disable in all profiles your cable modem card (C net one)then in network neighbour hood (or Me equivelant) delete the card there to and the TCP/IP protocol.
Now DONT reebot when asked (because it will just add the card and protocol again) , just setup the adapter and protocol for the LAN. Giving the usual 192.168.0.XXX and subnet mask 255.255.255.0 , Also remember and check the work group name is the same.
Click on the network neighbourhood a few times and they should apear. If not then reboot and it should. Remember and renable the C Net card and reboot that should now apear - setup its TCP/IP settings and the two cards should now be working ok together.
(ahem then again you could always just physicaly remove the Cnet card and configure the Lan first, then add the Cnet card once it is working correctly)
Good Luck

could tell me that how to configure to exitsting network i have user name , password
. i know how to do in windows 95/98, but windows 2000prof. NT Technology and windows xp i don't.
and how can see other computers in windows 2000prof. NT Technology and windows xp like in windows95/98 by clicking network neighbourhood

My firewall settings in norton antivirus kept the other computers on my home network
disabled. Main computer detected all users
but kept them off the network.
