Can't save to a folder, can copy

Mango January 28, 2009 at 13:05:19
Specs: Windows XP Home
I've set up some shared folders on all our computers. If I copy/paste files into the folder, the other computers on the network can access them as they should be able to. But if I save a file from within an application to the shared folder, the other computers are denied access.

A workaround is to copy the file out of the folder and copy it back, but this is time consuming.

All computers run Windows XP Home with NTFS and network over TCP/IP.

If anyone can give me some advice, I'd appreciate it. Many thanks, Mango

This sounds like a permissions issue.

Compare the perm's the 'Owner' has to that of regular users on the shared folder. You may have to do some tweaking to the perm's to get this working correctly.
