Comment: I have a laptop thats directly wired into a linksys wireless router. i just recovered from some viruses, but mcafee, and some online virus scanners, say i'm clean now. my problem is i can only use the web in Safe mode w/ networking. In normal mode, i can get an ip, but i can't ping anything at all, requests time out. i've tried winsockfix with no success. please help.

Reply: (edit)If it jacked your PC up that badly, I'd back your stuff up, and reinstall Windows, personally. "Republicans in Congress are moving to ratify a constitutional amendment to ban flag burning, thus ending the Iraq insurgency."

Reply: (edit)Seems like your DNS configurations are different in Safe Mode and Normal mode. Can you ping using an IP address in Normal Mode? If you can, I would look at the DNS configuration in Network Properties-TCP/IP Rule #1 Good computers don't go down. Rule #2 There is no such thing as a good computer.
