I have got around 9pcs connected to a work group and its working fine.
Now i have installed windows 2003 server and had created Remote Access, Domain Controller, DNS server and DHCP server. The range of Ip i gave to the server is of the same range which is currently being used. From the server i can ping the work group computers but cannot ping the server. It will be very difficult to troubleshoot any issues that relates to a server online.

But anyway, make sure all the workstations are getting the ip address from the windows 2003's dhcp pool. Also make sure there ain't any firewalls on your 2003 server thats blocking the icmp packets.

2003 is locked down. It doesn't reply to a ping by default.

Create the device and users in AD first. Then connect the computer to the domain as a domain user.

MS site has great how-to's walkthrough's and taped lectures for download. They also have all the documentation one could want.

Consider getting a good set of server books or a class to help out if the Microsoft site doesn't help enough.
