hi, we're connected to a router in the house, and all the others can connect to internet no problem but mine is having some trouble, the wireless usb i was using before broke so i decided to just connect via wired connection, but now i can't automatically obtain ip adress - it will either just say connection is not plugged in, or tries to acquire address, fails and has limited or no connectivety, and when i do type in the details, it says its connected but won't let me use the internet - i've tried a few things, and off other posts but no such luck and my knowledge of computers doesnt stretch that far!! would appreciate any help!

I would recommend you first check to ensure your NIC is set to get it's IP info automatically.

If it already is, then try statically assigning an IP. Before doing so, check the IP addresses on your other PC's to ensure you don't pick one that's already in use. Then pick one in the same range and ensure you have the exact same Subnet Mask, DNS, and Gateway addresses assigned to the PC and test. If it works, you're good to go. If it doesn't, you may have a bad NIC.
