cant network xp to vista

No matter how many times I run the network wizards and enable permissions and try to connect,I cant get my xp machine to connect to my vista. I have the icon for the other network pc showing on "my Network" but when I try to connect I get I get message that that drive is not spelled right or available. any ideas?

Make sure there is no firewall blocking on computer and XP can ping Vista and vice-versa. Also you need to enable file sharing correctly on computers, here are some articles to help you:

Summary: I am trying to network a win98(connected to internet) to a winxp(not connected to net). I can ping the win98 from xp, but cant ping xp from win98, i.e the win98 computer does not recognise the xp one....
