Somewhere on the device it should say a brand and a model number. for example "Netgear WN100 V2."

After you find the make and model, go to their website (in this case it's but you can find it by doing a quick google search. Once you find the page, locate their drivers and downloads section which will hopefully have a driver for your system.

Thank you for the help. The closest that I can get to a mfg is a logo with the letters MIC and what appears to be a part number 244-544692G. no help from any search engines yet.

Hmm... When you plug it into your computer, does the computer make a noise that acknowledges that you put it in? Does the computer try to install drivers but fails?

Have you checked My Computer to see if when you plug it in another drive shows up? If you don't know what it is and it isn't doing anything, it could just be a flash drive.

Did you find this device or something?
