How is the Linksys WRT54G2 connected to the modem?
Must be WAN port of the Linksys router to LAN port of the modem.

In addition, you have to configure the authentication, e.g. type: PPPoE, Username: your_username, password: your_password_at_your_ISP, in the WAN settings of your Linksys router.

Check out this wireless network setup tutorial, it will show you how to connect the modem to router, configure the router and finally connect all computers to Internet via router.

Hope this helps.
