I believe you meant to say Windows 7 Nobody in their right mind buys vista now that 7's out. In fact, vista was such a POS, nobody who could avoid it bought it even before 7 was released.
Having said that, the rest of your post was accurate.
If for some reason the device won't work after downloading and installing the correct drivers you may need to talk to the place you purchased it from. If the shop you bought it from is reputable, it should be no trouble taking it and having them get it working for you.
