At my mom's house we have a cable router to share the internet, but at my dad's house we have a network ub. I dcided I wanted to bring my PC over to my dad's house this week and show him some online games. I can't get the computer onto the network though. It won' let me delete the old connection. It won't let me create a new connection. And when I click on the connection it says it's sending packets but not reciving them.
ANyone have any idea what I should do?

You aren't exactly giving enough info. At your dads house all of the computers there are already networked. Look into the TC/IP properties of your card and your dads NIC card and make sure they are on the same subnet. Also make sure the workgroup name is the same.

I can't get to the place where it lets you edit the workgroup name. How do I get to it? When I try to go to the connection's propertys it doesn't work. Also how do I get to the TC/IP properties?
Sorry, I've been going through the network properties all night (last night) and I just haven't stumbled across this stuff yet...

Workgroup name is already the same (MSHOME).
I tried doing the ipconfig release/renew thing, but it gave me this message when I tried to renew: An error occured while renewing interface
Local area connection: unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed outAlso when I go into the connection proertys the physical address, IP address, and subnet mask all have numbers after them, but default gateway, DNS server, and WINS server are all left blank.
