Comment:

Until recently when I had to format the hard drive on one computer and reinstall WIN98SE, I was successfully running a home network using NETGEAR. I could share files, printers, and Internet. Now I can only get my computer to recognize my PC and the other one to recognize its PC. I cannot get them to recognize each other through mapping or find. I hope someone can help so I can stop sharing Internet time w/my son, lol.

I get the message: The computer or sharename could not be found. Make sure you typed it correctly, and try again.

I can see the name/shared drives of the other computer, but always get this same message.

do you have client for microsoft installed? I think you would need that if you want to access shared drives over the network

If by subnet you mean workgroup, I have both of them set under WORKGROUP. I don't know how to ping them. I am so frustrated I could scream because I've made this work before.

I forgot something I meant to add. I used to have them both set up under Family and changed it to WORKGROUP.

This is what I see:

Click on Network Neighborhood - get Entire Network and my computer name

Click on Entire Network - get Workgroup

Click on Workgroup - get my computer name

Why does it show it twice? This happens on both computers?
