I want to connect my laptop to my desktop. I use a cable that connects to both printer ports. I added the IPX/SPX protocol.When I started the DCC program from laptop as main computer, appear an error that says, "can't use comminication points. there is a wrong configuration or another program using the comminication points. If not configure DCC and restart." When I started the DCC program from laptop as client computer than it says "can't connecting the main computer. Ensure that you started the DCC and connect the cable." I checked the cable and the pins, physical connection. I enabled file and printer sharing on network properties. On shared folders , I enabled full access. When I run DCC on desktop, it is waiting for connection. in BIOS LPT1 configured as ECS. For a trial I chande it to standart but there is no change. Where is the mistake?

I agree with PSM450, forget the Serial/Par cables and go with 2 NIC cards. If you really want to get your ser/par cables to work... you should buys a "LapLink Cables"... they sell those at most computer stores. You just can't use any 25 pin cables and plug them into the printer port... it's not like you're trying to print to each other's computer.
