im using a linksys-g wireless router (WAG354G V2)
every time i search for wirless connection with my hp pavilion dv6189ea notebook i get a very low signal for my router while i get a very good signal for other routers near me (neighbors' routers)
i can't even connect to it with this poor signal it always say "connecting" and nothing happens..
on the other hand when i connect my laptop to the linksys router throw lan it works very well...
i tryied other laptop (dell inspiron)
it found the linksys signal with a "low" status even when i get too close to the router but at least the dell laptop could connect to the router...
by the way im using XP SP3 for the hp laptop and windows vista for the dell one..
im sorry for my VERY bad english
but please can anyone help ?
thanks

Ever tried to use another channel for your wireless network at the router.
Maybe the other wlan you mentioned, uses the same channel.
This could cause some trouble.

well..
i tried to change the channel but that didn't help..
but now i noticed that the dell notebook detects the linksys router's signal with a very good status !
but the hp still get it in a very low signal and when i try to connect it keep saying "connecting" while it finds other routers in a very good signal and connect with it easly..

That's quite odd.
Have you tried both connection methods?
1st I think there is a connection tool from HP and
2nd by using the Microsoft connection tool. Are there any differences in signal strength ?

oh my god ..
i uninstalled the wireless card driver for hp and reinstalled it and that worked . it can get the linksys with a very good signal .. BUT !!
i formated the dell laptop and guess what
it can't detect the linksys router anymore and can detect other routers !! lol
what the hell !!
i tried to uninstall wireless card driver for dell and reinstall it but that didn't work this time .
please help

Finally
i changed the channel again
this time both laptops can connect to the router with good signal .
thanks for helping
