cant connect to internet

Please help me connect to the internet.I have a toshiba that is windows 98 which is just what I need to use with my digital sewing machine. I also wanted to go on the internet with it but it uses dial up. I have food. I was told to buy a usb wireless router to install and use my wifi from windows 7 my new pc. I installed usb router, it reads that I have wifi but can't connect to internet. How do I do this?

Do you have a broadband Internet connection. If not a wireless router of no use to you at all.

I don't know what you mean by a USB wireless router,. Routers connect to a computer via cable or wi-fi, not USB. What I suspect you have is a USB wi-fi dongle that allows you to connect to a wireless router.

Some Model Numbers of what you do have would be useful.

What as that got to do with anything. I have food, a fridge full of it.
