Just recently my daughters notebook cannot access the internet either thru hardline or wireless. It does have connection but diag has this message: "Win cannot connect to internet......caused by firewll settings. Ck firewall settings for HTTP port80, HTTPS port443 and FTP port21". I disabled the firewall but still has problem? I have no problem pinging addresses so I'm stumped??

Make sure you can ping the gateway (router) IP, also check any firewall setting on router or notebook (might need to disable it temporary).

Also try to use nslookup on notebook's command prompt, see whether can resolve the domain name correctly. You can try these 2 free DNS servers if you like:

208.67.220.220
208.67.222.222

Hope helps..
