cant connect to internet with router

Specs: Windows 7, E machines
Hi, my computer works fine when I'm connected directly to my Comcast Modem. However, when I connect the router to the computer and then the modem to the router it doesnt work, the icon at the lower right corner keeps saying: no internet access.

I tried resetting and even had comcast reset the modem for me but it still wont work.

Looks like you router is not configured correctly.

Go to a command prompt and type ipconfig /all and post the result here.

You need to do some configurations with your router especially when the modem request a username and a password(PPPoE) to connect to the internet but I presume that ComCast goes directly and never ask anything like that correct me if I'm wrong. I do suggest you contact your router manufacturer for support. If its a Netgear or a Linksys then go contact them but its a DLink you can forget about it and lets continue helping you here.

I've same opinion too, most likely your router is not configured correctly. Basically you need to configure the Internet (WAN), LAN and DHCP settings correctly on router management page.
