can't connect to corporate through VPN

March 21, 2011 at 13:07:00
Specs: N/A
I have a Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO Router and had no problems connecting to corporate in the past until several months ago. I can connect just fine if I bypass the router and connect to the modem. I also have no problem if I go to places like Subway. There is no problem with the wireless internet connection, only a problem when I try to connect to corporate through the VPN. Please help! This problem is driving me crazy! Oh, I also bought a new router (thinking mine was too old) but took it back because I had the same issue with it!

Have you activated PPTP passthrough or vpn passthrough in the routers setup?
This is pretty necessary, to get vpn connections to work.

Ummmm, I'm not sure. I know that when I bought the router I plugged it in to the modem, turned them on and ran the setup disk and everything worked fine...then one day I tried to connect and couldn't. Our provider told us to do a reset...didn't help. I think there has been an automatic update done (to the router), could that have changed something? And if so, how can I change it back? I thought I knew a bit about computers, but don't have any idea what you mean by activating PPTP passthrough. I am going to go in and check now.

You have to check the routers manual on how to set this option in your router.
A router reset to it's factory default settings could cause reset this parameter as well as a firmware update does.
