I have AirTel (india) broadband internet connection and last week i got the static IP service from them. Once i changed the IP to this new one, i could not connect to FTP servers (even from client software or from direct browser) for uploading files. i can access web pages and the PC is connected to the LAN by linksys wireless router. Any clue?

I would first contact my provider with this question. If they don't have a clue, I would then contact the ftp site(s) and ask them what they know. It could be a ban on the network your new IP is on.
