I am trying to access a database on CD on a Windows 98 computer. The CD drive and database are set up for sharing. I can map a drive on another Windows 98 computer and access the database. However, I cannot see the Windows 98 computer when browsing the network on a Windows XP Professional Computer. I want to be able to access the database from this XP computer. I have heard that this may have something to do with the Active Directory in Windows XP.
I have tried setting up the the client for Microsoft Networks and File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks on the Windows XP computer and the Windows 98 (one with the database I want to access) using the Network wizard. I had to do this, since I am on a Novell network. Now I can see the XP computer on the network from the XP Computer, but nothing else. I can see the Windows 98 and Windows XP computer from the Windows 98 computer.
Does anyone know how I can get the Windows XP computer to see the Windows 98 one? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
