Hello members
I have setup a home network(mshome, workgroup) wit the main machine through cable to the WAG54GP2 router/modem. There are two more machines on wireless to the router. One is on a Netgear WG311 PCi Adapter and the other with a Linksys WMP54G Pci to the above router.
I have good connection to the Netgear machine through my Network Places but non at all to the Linksys computer, except through :start-run and \\192.168.xxx.xxx.
I have done the file and printer sharing on both wireless machines. I obviously can't print from the Linksys machine(except on a lucky day). All machines on XPPRO SP2. DHCP is set up manualy with fixed IP's.
Would someone be able to help me on this?

Thanks

Luregn

are the wireless computers setup on their own workgroup using the ssid name?
the router needs to be setup with the wireless ssid along with the 2 computers.
all my wireless computers are setup with the ssid 'janex' and the main pc connects wired to the router on 'mshome.
i'm isolated here so i don't use an wep encrytion numbers
you may need the wep tho.

can the linksys machine get onto the net and access any of the other machines?

i would turn DHCP on and set all machines to receive network settings automatically. if you have a network printer, exclude the address from the DHCP range and keep it fixed on the printer.

your firewalls on all PCs will need configuring to accept network traffic for your network.

try pinging the other machines IPs from your hardwired machine from the command prompt. then also try checking the ARP table with ARP -a. this should show all the addresses on your network once they have been pinged successfully

nosey aren't ya, readin me sig?

Hi Mountain
I have done the same setup like you and I have no security on the wireless either as my next neighbour is also a few hundred meters away.
Do I need to have the guest accounts enabled?

Hi Decker
I have been told to set the machines on static IP's. One question that I still wonder is; do I have to have the Guest accounts enabled on all machines when I have a network(workgroup)? I can find the machines through start-run and type the ips! The internet is working fine on all machines. I just can't browse to the shared folders or print from the wireless machines.
