HI, I NEED HELP ON ACCESSING COMPUTERS ON MY NETWORK. MY COMPUTER IS AN IMAC, BUT IT HAS WINDOWS XP INSTALLED, TILL DATE IT WAS WORKING FINE, BUT ONE FINE DAY IT STOPPED ACCESS TO THE NETWORK. THERE ARE FOUR WIRED COMPUTERS ON THE LAN. THREE COMPUTERS CAN ACCESS ALL THE COMPUTERS, BUT THE IMAC COMPUTER CAN ONLY SEE ALL THE COMPUTER IN THE WORKBOOK, BUT THE MOMENT I CLICK ON IT, IT SAYS ACCESS IS DENIED, CONTACT THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THIS SERVER, SERVER SERVICE IS NOT STARTED. I HAVE BECOME HANDICAPPED, AS I CANT PRINT ANYTHING, EVEN THE ENGINEER HAS FAILED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM, HE SAYS HE NEEDS TO RE-INSTALL XP WHICH MIGHT HELP, BUT RE-INSTALLING IS NOT HAPPENING AS HE IS STILL FIGURING OUT HOW TO REBOOT AN IMAC. PLEASE SUGGEST SOME SOLUTIONS.

I never reinstall for network problems. Start by looking at all the firewalls, especially if Symantec is running.

I have disabled all the firewalls, All computers are on same workgroup, and operating system is also same - Windows XP professional. I have even checked the server, the status bar displays ' started '. Eventhough internet is connected to the LAN, with another computer, but still it is working and yet other computers are not accesible and even printer. How do I check the network interface, and what is N/W connectivity. Please suggest some more solutions.

Rgds.

I have now checked the netwrok interface, by pinging through the RUN command, there is no problem with that, as packets lost shows '0'.
