We have a windows2003 domain server running active directory and a SAN connected to it with some file shares. In our office, most PC's are a member of the the domain, but some PC's are not, but they still access the shares with domain users.
Recently, the SAN completely stopped working, so as a temporary measure, I have unplugged it, copyied the backup to a spare drive on the domain controller itself, and resetup the shares with the same names as they used to exist on the SAN.
The problem is, that the PC's that are part of the domain, cannot see any shares on the DC! \\servername\sharenames gives the error "domain is not accessible. You may not have permission to use this network service". I've checked permissions etc, and they are all OK. The PC's that are not part of the domain, can see the new shares just fine using the above path!
Further, if I access the shares from any PC's in the domain with the IP address (\\xx.xx.xx.xx\sharename), or fully qualified domain name (\\servername.serverdomain\sharename), then the shares can be accessed fine.
I feel that perhaps something needs to be refreshed or kicked in the head! I've restart everything, removed teh PC from teh domain, and re-joined the domain, changed passwords, etc, but nothing has changed.
Does anyone have any clues?
