add it to the lmhosts.sam file, import the file via wins properties, reboot and it will work
Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.

It takes a while to resolve names. Usually a ping to ip address updates that. lmhosts also requires I think a check box in setting to use it. It may be enabled by default. Usually need to write the entry to pre cache it so it doesn't have to wait for a wins server.
After you connect via \\ip does the computer show up in the same workgroup?
