Hi All, I hope anyone can help.
We have a small windows LAN of 5 users connected to the internet via a linux ipcop firewall/router. No changes have been made, but all of a sudden we cannot access our website or mail at our host co from inside the office. We can however connect to it from outside the office building.

When we ping by name, we get the IP addr back, so I think DNS is ok, but we still get response time out.
when we ping by IP, we get response time out.
when we tracert, we can see our request leave the building, but it drops about 17 hops away with a response time out. our ISP says it nothing to do with them.

Im stuck :-( Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Talk to your ISP and ask them if they have removed the dns reverse lookup for your domain name/ip address.

How many hops when you are outside? Sounds like the ISP may have bad dns records.

The only thing that negates the above is that it works when outside. Note what you dns ip is with a ipconfig /all. Then go outside and do the same. Compare the dns servers. Perhaps the one you are pointed at internally is bad.

Imagine the power if you knew how to internet search

thank wanderer,

it looks like it takes 17 hops total from outside. the 17th being the dest. From inside, i dont reach the dest. but I do reach the final router before the dest from inside and outside, as its the same name/ip that i see.

ISP are under the impression that its to do with fw/antivir i have. That cant be true can it?

thanks
