Cannot wirelessly print from my Laptop

April 11, 2012 at 11:41:52
Specs: Windows Vista
I have a CanonPIXMA iP4000 printer connected to my 64bit VISTA PC via a USB cable. My XP laptop is connected via a Router to the PC. I cannot share my printer between the two. My Laptop says that the drivers are,nt loaded, even though they are installed. I used to be able to share the printer before, until I had a virus on the laptop, and I had the operarating system deleted and then installed. I,m not a computor expert, but would be grateful of any assistance

Ive already spent many hours going through the standard sharing proceedures with no success. My XP laptop keeps asking for printer drivers, (which I have downloaded and saved). When I highlight were the drivers have been saved too, the laptop says they,ve not been loaded. Everything has worked in the past, otherwise, I would buy a more modern printer. (Thanks for the reply)

Try installing the printer onto the laptop using the USB cable so that it is recognised as an installed printer, then go through the setup procedure again wirelessly - as the drivers will already be on the laptop the system should recognise this & ask if you want to use the ones already installed.

Definitely stick with the ip4000, there isn't a decent replacement for it (newer models are more expensive to run and not as flexible)
