Comment:

I'm using a Novatech (Model 8555) laptop with a Netgear 108 Mpbs Wireless PC card WG511T.

I have been trying for some time to connect to the internet wirelessly using the card, but to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Do you have an internet service provider or are you trying to catch a signal in the air?

Just to make sure.... you do have a wireless router right? And it
is just not wanting to connect? If so... is it giving any errors?

Yeah, I have a wireless router. An Orange 'Livebox' router.

I select the network from the list of available wireless networks, input the WEP key and it attempts to correct.

My computer seems to acquire the network address ect, but then seems to stop trying to connect. When I click 'repair' I get the error message 'Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: Connecting to the wireless network.

ok... which operating system are you running on? Also...
sometimes those routers get all hung up.. You try a few things
here.. First try turning off the wep and see if you can connect.
If that doesnt work try resetting the router then then try and
connect. Let me know what happens. or what the results are!

Hey!

I'm running XP on this laptop.

When it comes to wireless technology, my knowledge is pretty basic. How would I go about turning off WEP?

I will try to reset to router after I have turned off WEP!

its pretty simple.. all you need to do is log into your router
through the ie explorer. The address should be 192.168.1.1, or
192.168.0.1, or 192.168.2.1 and press enter. You should endup
in your router main page... look for anything in their that says
wireless setup or just wireless.. find the wep password and
click turn off or something like that. Its pretty simple.. Every
router is a little different and yet have the same concept. So try
that out and see if you can work that out.
