Here is an interesting problem that I am having:
Hardware: Server running Win2000 Server Linksys Router Optimum Online Cable Modem
After a power outage in my area, I have not been able to ping my router's IP address from the internet(I would connect remotely through PCanywhere to the computer using IP). It was working perfectly fine before the outage and now will give me the "Request Time Out"answer. Interesting enough is that the ip address assigned to the router is still the same and I have internet access to the world wide web. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? (And how I can solve the problem). Thanks

Power outages do weird things. It's possible that your router reset itself during the power outage, maybe removing your port forwarding and other settings. Also possible is that your PC reset itself, if you have an IP determined by DHCP, it's possible that you somehow have a new local IP, which would forward your PCany to the wrong location. HTH

Check your router settings. It may have an option such as "discard ping from WAN" which got corrupted during the power outage. If you see such a feature, try toggling it.
