Hello i wanna remotely control my work place's pc (connected to internet through a wan). I've tested some proggys and they worked so fine (locally), but i dont know how to reach that pc, from outside (my home, dial-up). My question is, how i can get the real ip, one that don't result in "destination host unreacheable"??

If your work PC's is behind a firewall or other device running NAT, then it's tough.

Your network managers probably don't want you doing this type of thing. Just because it can be done doesn't mean it's a good idea. Leave well enough alone. The security measure put in place trying to stop what you want to do are there for a reason. Ask them about it for their specific reasons, and I'm sure you'll understand.

Unless, of course, that you make the decisions for the company. Then, just tell them what you want, and make them do it.

Or you can do what I did and ask for the password for level 15 access to the Cisco router and hear the word NO before you finish your sentence.

Thanks Viper. I always like a good laugh. I spent 7 years on that side of the coin, and I completely understand. The biggest problem I had to contend with was users trying to do more than they should have.

Actually Chase I'm the LAN Administrator but my boss the WAN Administrator won't let me into the router. I was trying to stream live video to a web page and the router was blocking access (I think it was port 80). Oh well, I tried.

Well if his concern is strictly security and not bandwidth then you might talk to him about using another port or using a tunnel to go through another port. Or if you have a static IP or Domain name setting the port up for your traffic only however using a name is not as secure since names are easiest to spoof. If they are using private IPS behind the firewall you will always get destination host unreacheable. However if the machine has a public IP then it is only a matter of the firewall and or router that is in your way and a WAN Admin.
