This is what happened:
the computer cannot login into the network, not even with the network admin account. I phoned the "computer consultant" and they told me to unplug the cable, restart the computer, fill out the account name and password, and only now I can plug in the cable and login into the network.

If I didn't follow the steps, the computer wouldn't be able to login into the network.
Any one has any idea how or why this happened?

Hi, everyone ^_^

Kind of hard to tell. We'd need to know a whole lot more. While it seems a simple issue there is plenty under the hood that could go wrong.

First place I'd look (if enabled) is the event viewer logs.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

There is no event recorded if the login fails. My company bought 4 new computers last week, and now there are 2 of the 4 new computers have this problem. All of the 4 new computers worked fine until I tried to change 2 new computers' default local admin account name and password. Right after I changed the account name and password, this problem appears. The other 2 new computers don't have this problem.

By logging into the network do you mean Domain? If the problem started after you changed the account name, why not set it back to the Default?

You really haven't provided enough information.

Changing the account name to the default does not solve the problem.

Yes, I mean domain

Please tell me what information you need to solve the problem. The server is running Windows 2003, and the 4 new computers are running XP Pro with sp2.

You said you unplugged the network cable and now it's working. So it's working now, or it's not working? I guess I'm confused.

I have to repeat these steps every time when I try to login into the domain.

I guess I'm just too lazy to repeat these steps ^_^
