Hi guys, I already tried posting this in XP but that hasn't solved my problem.

I have two computers connected to the same wireless network which runs through a regular Linksys router. Now for the past few weeks I have been unable to access one website which I need quite badly. www.washburn.edu. It seems to work everywhere else but NOT on either of my computers at home. When I realized it didn't work on the second computer I began to wonder about the network. Is it possible the network blocked it somehow? What else could be the issue? I've tried disabling firewall, checked my hosts file, everything. I ran a trace route also and it timed out on the first hop. Any help at all would be fantastic, thanks!

While it is probably not related to your Internet service....generally...yes, it could be related to your networking gear (router or cards)...and probably is.

To further test/isolate:

Does your wireless router also have ethernet ports for direct connections?

If so, connect either of the computers that cannot access that site to the router with a network cable (assuming your computers do have ethernet ports).

If you can do the above...follow these steps.

-Turn off computer.

Turn your router off.

-Disconnect the comptuer's it's wireless adapter (if it is connected via usb...just unplug it while the computer is turned off).

-Move computer close to the router and connect via ethernet patch cable.

- Turn the router back on...wait 1 minute.

-Turn computer on ...let set for a minute...then, open your home page...make sure you are able to access the Web...then try that site...type it in directly to the address line.

This will rule out the issue being wireless related...which is a very real possibility. I responded to your other post. I did not mention that when I conected the PC in question directly via ethernet cable....it had no problems pulling the one site I was having problems with.

If you still cannot pull that page...the next testing step is to bypass your router all together by connecting your Broadband modem directly to your PC.

Try direct to router test first, though, and go from there.

HTH

I have experienced this exact same issue, only with a different website. I had an 802.11b Linksys router which connected to an Ethernet LAN. At some points in time, I could not get to www.dslreports.com from wireless clients AND I could not get to it from any of the wired computers.

If I did a traceroute from either a wireless client or a wired client, it timed out on the first hop. Any other website worked fine. My fix was to simply reboot the router and everything worked fine. It happened quite often, actually.

No clue why or what caused this. I have since migrated to a Cisco 1605R for routing and a Motorola WiAp-100 802.11g Access Point for wireless connectivity.

I had the same problem and solved it after two days.
You have got two IP adresses from DHCP. For Lan and for WLAN.You just need to control if your computer has the right one. Go to DOS box, ping your computername for network, that will show you which IP is in use.Probably is not the right one. So you release your Lan IP with ipconfig command and after that you can use your Wlan addapter as usually.

I´ve forgotten it. Prove your subnet musk. It has to be 255.255.255.0
On my PC it sometimes changes to 255.0.0.0 Don´t know why. I put it back with: Run --> winipcfg and than I can get all sites.
