i have 2 desktop computers and a linksys router on the main computer and for some strange reason my laptop is not connecting to the internet anymore. It identifies the network , the network has full bars, i have set the settings such that it should connect automatically to my home network but now its not any more. Now when it connects, it takes like 30 or more minutes to catch my home network. I don't know what to do anymore. I need help! Please and thank you

If you're using encryption for you wireless lan, and I hope you do so, have you crosscecked the encryption key.
You can have full signal strength with no encryption key but you are not authorized to connect to you wlan without the correct encryption key.

You go into the router and the wireless key and reset it
Then you do the same on your wireless card.

But I see no mention of you power cycling your router. Do so before you make any changes. Once up power cycle the laptop then see if you connect automatically.

You can also connect your computer via cable to access the routers setup.
Search the security settings, where the encryption key is stored and compare this key with the one, configured in on your wireless network card.

A number of vendors and models only give you the stars [*] for the passphrase. It's nice when they give you the check box for clear text but that is not always an option with a wireless card or router.

Excellent point about connecting wired to fix the wireless. Doesn't work otherwise :-)

@wanderer
Right, except one resets the router to factory defaults.
But in this case, you're also right, you don't have to compare the encryption keys :-)

why would you set the router to factory defaults if just dealing with the wireless encryption key? Kinda like swatting a fly with a sledgehammer

I wouldn't do that.
