Specs: Windows XP, 2/2
hi,
i recently bought a new sony vaio laptop it comes with b/g/n wireless but i cant seem to connect it to my router at home. i have a DLINK DL-524. I have been able to connect my laptop on other networks but for some reason i cannot connect at home. my laptop displays my SSID with strong signals but im unable to connect.
i have tried disabling my WEP and leaving the network unsecure and was still unable to connect. i have multiple devices at home that connects to the router without a problem.
maybe my router is not capable of recieving N signals?

Is there a MAC address filter enabled in the router settings?

I know you said that you can connect to other networks but disable the firewall just in case something is being over looked. Also try a static IP, out of the DHCP range, on your subnet.

As a side note, WEP is not the most secure encryption. I've been testing WEP and securing networks for people. In every case so far, I have found that nobody changes the default password in the router. No one seems to use static IPs either and the router is giving out connections once WEP is compromised.

i dont think i have MAC filter on because i can log on to my wlan with my iphone, DS, and Ps3 without a problem. my new laptop however wont even connect at all... it doesnt even go to the wep password screen it just simply wont connect to it even tho the ssid is displayed. i also dont know how to set up a static ip out of the DHCP range. as directed in post #3

SOLVED!
i removed the wep and left my network
unsecured, disable all firewall on new laptop
then connected to the network(still no
internet access) clicked the check mark to
save the connection. turned WEP back on,
added the WEP password to the saved
connection on laptop and it all is working
now... hope this helps for anyone going
through the same problem
