1) check your cables.

2) go to the command prompt and ping 127.0.0.1 . If you get 5 OKs back your network adapter is probably OK. If not, go into Hardware manager and see if there's an exclamation mark through the network adapter: You'll need to reload your drivers. If the adapter is OK try reloading TCP/IP to your client.

3) now try to ping the router. If you get an OK back there may be something wrong with the router itself. Otherwise make sure your XP firewall is disabled and check your cables again. Try switching to another port. Bypass the router and see if you can connect to your ISP directly: Then it's the router going out on you.

I am facing Similar problem. I am connecting to my Office LAN using the Ethernet Cable. I get an IP address but as soon as i browse it shows Page cannot be displayed. WHen i check the Network Icon in the System Tray there is activity in the Sent Packets, where as the Receive PAckets shows only 6-7 packets. I have tried the following:
reinstalling the Network drivers
Uninstalled the EzTrust Firewall
Disabled the WIndows Firewall
In my office all other users Laptops work fine on the same network using the same network cable.

At home i am able to successfully connect to Internet with Wireless connection as well as with the LAN Cable.

Someone Please Please help!!!!
