Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, 2.405 GHz / 446 MB

okay, i have a Compaq Presario SR2013WM Windows XP 32 bit. okay, today i reformatted my harddrive and installed a newer version of WindowsXp. Everything went smooth but now i cannot connect to the internet through my ethernet cable.Internet was working fine before the install. If I plug in my belkin wireless usb adapter it works, unplug and hook ethernet back up "nothing". If i go to my network connection there is no 1394 Net adapter or Local Area Connection. If I go to Device Manager I got exclamation marks - "PCI Bridge Device" - "Unkknown device" - PCI Simple Communications Controller. I do not have a update driver cd. I installed this same version of WindowsXp on my other computer(Compaq Presario sr1603wm) with no problems. Were did I go wrong. Can someone help me???

That's one of the biggest problems with certain brand names.

I would suggest you first go to Compaq's website amed with your PC's serial number and model number. I would use those to search for available downloads for that model. Once there they should list drivers for the NIC, the bridge and everything else.

Curt is right. The dirvers you need can be found here :

Just look under the networking category and download the LAN NIC driver only.
