Microsoft Windows server 2008 standard -...

Specs: Server 2008 Standard R2, Dual Xeon 2.8/4gig ram
I have all the shares open to everyone. Server is in a workgroup hosting files. Other workstations can see and browse other workstations and the server is seen in the View Network Computers but when I try to open it there is a message saying it's inaccessible. I've created a username with matching password on the server, but we are not 'authenticating' to the server, per se.. it's just a file host. What am I doing wrong?

What is the exact error message you get when you attempt to connect to the share?

When I double-click on the server icon in my workgroup window, I receive the following error after about 45 seconds:

\\(servername) is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The network path was not found.

I've enabled sharing, gone into advanced sharing, changed permissions to everyone, created a login on the server that matches the logon for my workstation (since we're not using AD or DC ) but nothing works. I have several folders shared individually on the server with 'everyone' access. I can see shares on other workstations but not on the server. What did I miss?
