cannot access Canada library URL

Specs: Windows XP Pro SP3, AMD Phenom II X4 955/3.18GB
The site I cannot connect to is About 2 years ago a similar thing happened and it was almost 6 months before I regained access (don't know why!). The same problem exists now, unable to connect since Jan this year. I have used all browsers, IE, Opera, Safari and Chrome, used different computers, and have asked friends in other places in Australia to try the url, all with the same response, "could not connect to the remote server". It seems to be a problem peculiar to Australia.
I have contacted the Halton Hills Library with my problem and even had tech support at the domain talk me through doing a trace/ping and other stuff. Nobody seems to have an answer. Any site which includes the domain exhibits this problem.

I had no problem with it and I'm on Opera in the UK. I would contact you ISP, it could be a DNS problem with their servers.

Thanks Stuart. Contacting my ISP ( was problematical in itself but eventually I managed to speak to a person in Tech Support and he said he had no problems either, but then he qualified this by saying that he was in a call centre outside Australia! I am going to be in Melbourne next week so I will be knocking on some doors at the Telstra offices.

Some suggestions:

- Might be DNS related problem, you can try to configure following free DNS servers provided by Google on your computer, after that test again.

- Scan your computer by using antivirus/anti-malware program with latest signature, just to make sure it's not caused by worm/virus infection.

Hope this helps.

Reconfigured DNS , still the same. I am currently corresponding with Tech Support at the domain that I am having the problems with,, and have sent the results of a trace from my computer to them. Hoping to get this resolved soon, will post the solution (if any). I must study up on this, to understand why a trace works but a ping to the same IP address does not??
Thanks again for the suggestion.
