If someone knows your IP address all they can obtain from it is your ISP and general geographic area, and even that doesn't always work. The producers of some software to hide your IP address have engaged in scare tactics claiming that personal information is easily obtainable from it. This is incorrect. Your personal information is known only to your ISP and they won't reveal it without proper legal authority.

Don't wast your money with programme that hide your IP address. Read post #2 again and take note.

Every time you send anything over the Internet, your IP address goes with it, it is a necessary part of the system that makes the Internet work. Every Email you send has your IP address in it as the originator, unless it has been spoofed by a spammer and even then it can still be traced.

There is nothing to be achieved by hiding your IP address, it is public information. Unless you are doing something illegal and then there are other ways of tracking you down.

Ask the hackers and paedophiles residing in prison who thought they were anonymous on the Internet,
