Hello
Here is my problem..

One computer in a p2p workgroup, can surf fine, but cannot access shared drives on the network. In the event viewer, there are 3 errors....

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Workstation
Event Category: None
Event ID: 3113
Description:
Initialization failed because the requested service redirector could not be started.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7023
Description:
The Workstation service terminated with the following error:
The volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7001
Description:
The Computer Browser service depends on the Workstation service which failed to start because of the following error:
The volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted.

It was working fine a couple of weeks ago. I'm pretty sure nothing was changed.
All machines in the workgroup are Winxp pro.
All are in the same workgroup.
Firewalls are disabled.
Netbios over tcp/ip is enabled.
Shares are set correctly.
Also the other computers can see this computer on the network.

Has anyone run into this?
Will removing and reinstalling the workstation service fix this?
I've looked everywhere for a resolution to this problem.
Any ideas?

Thanks!

Schedule a scandisk at next reboot and then reboot the PC and let scandisk run.

If that doesn't fix the problem. I would suggest you rerun the network setup wizard, except this time run it from the XPCD.
When you you the XPCD into the computer and let it launch. Choose additional tasks from the menu and choose to setup a home or small office network.
Then reboot all PC's when finished.

Hope this helps.
