Hi, I have a really annoying prob. My home network is running perfectly, except a new pc i've just added. Its setup with a static IP and can access the other computers on the network. It can also connect to the internet, but only for about 10-20 seconds after that nothing will load or download. The connection stays 'connected' and I can even ping the websites, i.e. ping www.google.com so this can't be a DNS problem. Whats also strange is if i load up google then it stops working, google will still search and find what i'm searching for, but none of the links will work and i won't be able to open any other sites. I've tried this with two broswers, IE and firefox and neither work.
Any ideas what might be causing this?
I tried making speed and duplex were set to auto like someone suggested earlier, but i couldn't find it under the advanced tab.
Also i've downloaded and installed the newest drivers for the adapter. Its built into a MSI motherboard, realtek 9800-based PCI ethernet adapter. Thanks in advance for any suggestions
Alex

First, switch the port to another client that's working. If this client goes south it's not the machine, it's the network. Chances are however that the client is just misconfigured.
Make sure you're using the correct drivers for your adapter; even if they're the "newest" they may not work with this model. Check your cables to make sure they connectors are good and fit tightly into the connection slots. You may want to wipe the hard drive and start over fresh; sometimes there's just a defective driver lurking around the system somewhere that you'll never track down on its own. Defragg and scan your HD in any event.
