Subject: Can Ping, Can't View Network Drive
OS: XP Pro
CPU/Ram: Pentium D 2.66 EMT 64/ 1
Model/Manufacturer: Systemax
Comment:
I have computers that can ping and be pinged, but can not view network drives that I had mounted. The computers used to be able to view it, and all of the sudden they can't. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Assuming you mean you have setup shares, have you confirmed the share permissions are correct? Are they trying to map to one of the drives or just connect?

Life's more painless for the brainless.

What does show in My Network?

Configured the Windows or 3rd party firewall to allow access?

Imagine the power if you knew how to internet search

I ended up just replacing the switch and everything works. I don't know what was wrong. All of the computers were running without a firewall, and were able to see the computer and network neighborhood.
