Why do I need to reset my router to use internet service on my wireless laptop?
I never used to have to reset my router when I wanted to use the internet on my wireless laptop, now I have to reset it with every use. I use the same connection to my PC (not a wireless connection) Why am I needing to do this? How can I fix this?
My router model is Linksys Wireless B 2.4 Broadband BEFW11S4 Ver.4

Email me with any solutions. Thank you

First things first - Update the Firmware

http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Sate...

There you will find the user guides / firmware download ect.
You will have to login to the router, and upload the firmware that you get from the linksys site. DO NOT upgrade your firmware over your wireless connection, wire it into the router.

Thanks for any input.

Hi,

What is the operating system that you are
using in the Laptop?

If its a Vista you will face this kind of
problem with the router, since its a one of
the oldest Model.

If You are using Vista OS i would suggest you
to go for a G standard wireless Router.

If You are using Win Xp, I would suggest you
to Upgrade the Firmware for the Router and
once u upgrade the router firmware reset the
router for 2 min and reconfigure the router
which will fix the Issue.

Login to the user interface of the router,
Under the administration tab you can find the
Option to upgrade the firmware.

If you face the same problem still with the
router, i would suggest you to check the
laptop in a Hot spot and check you are
getting disconnected from the wireless.

If you get disconnected, i would suggest you
to upgrade the drivers for the wireless card
in the laptop.

If you want to get a good speed in the
wireless network, instead of the B standard
you can use G or N standard router which are
available in the Market.

Thanks & Regards,
L8ian

Well, I went to the Linksys website to try and download the firmware. Two problems:
1)The firmware has a .bin extension how can I open this file up?
2) How do I log onto my router?

I don't know much about networking so this is probably something really easy for the rest of you.
Thanks
